San Ysidro Mi Pueblo Project Picked as one of San Diego's Pilot VillagesTuesday, February 10, 2005 San Ysidro's Mi Pueblo Pilot Village has been chosen by the City of San Diego as one of the city's "pilot" villages. The city's program encourages communities to build mixed use development in areas close to public transportation to highlight models for smart growth and planning in urbanized areas. San Ysidro Business Association in partnership with Casa Familiar and Las Americas, will construct new housing and commercial space. The SYBA project will result in approximately 800 new units of housing and 137,000 square feet of commercial space. The project will be built in between Highway 805 and Cottonwood on San Ysidro Boulevard. At least 20 percent of the housing will be affordable to low income families. |
